I had marvellous conditions to image Mars on 3rd June 2018 and made 3 runs. The first two are approximately an hour apart and the third approximately 2.5 hours later. These images have been substantially reworked and improved versus the original processing. The latter image was most recently IOTD.

What is most interesting is that the first image clearly shows the yellow mass of the spreading dust storm at the terminator on the p side of the planet (top right). An hour later in the middle image it is still just visible, but has rotated out of view by the third capture. White orographic clouds around the equatorial region are visible in all three images. They seem to have moved by the third image or perhaps are lit differently by the Sun. For example the clouds over the shield volcanoes Arsia and Pavonis Mons, visible in the third image cannot be seen in the first two.

In the first two images, the Valles Marineris is prominent as is Solis Lacus to the south. The Tharsis Montes are clearly visible in the middle image as 3 blue-grey dots in a row and Olympus Mons is on the f limb rotating into view. By the third image it was prominently placed in the centre of the image. In all three images there is an interesting light purple coloured region just north of the south polar cap.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
